The resources include best practice information about sanitation and wearing masks. Examples of practices from various library types (e.g. Public, Academic) are also included.

NHIL + NHL Subject Headings + Descriptive Metadata Practices

These slides were used to facilitate discussion at this August 19, 2020 gathering. The conversation focused on considerations for descriptive metadata practices, as well as possible paths forward for ALU LIKE, Inc. Native Hawaiian Libraries' cataloging activities.
Creating Community-Appropriate Subject Headings: A Workflow

This workflow will help to guide the initial strategic planning process of creating and managing community-appropriate Subject Headings.

The work is broken up into three phases:

  3. Install

Description of Hawaiʻi Materials

How we describe our materials impacts how our communities engage with them. This video highlights areas for growth in local collections, such as the Hawaiʻi State Archives and Ulukau: The Hawaiian Electronic Library. Also discussed are community-centered collection management tools, like those in use by the Passamaquoddy People and Māori.
